Low Gear was founded in a WhatsApp group that started as a prank and ended up planning a trip to the Swartberg. We took three dodgy bakkies. We came back with two, a great story, and a rule book written entirely in braai smoke.
Seven years on, the club's grown but the recipe hasn't changed: banter first, winching second, braai always. We run trips from the Cederberg to Kaokoland, meet-ups in every major city, and an unreasonable volume of group-chat memes.
They said I'd get stuck in the first 20 metres. They were right. 10/10 would winch again.
Joined for the trails. Stayed for the WhatsApp group at 1am on a Tuesday.
The GPX pack alone is worth the membership. The braai roster is a bonus.
Apply for membership. We'll check your recovery kit, your sense of humour, and your willingness to be pranked on trip #1. The rest takes care of itself.
